A Strange Girl in a Strange World
Emi Slade is a multi-talented Michigan creature artist producing mostly sculptural and taxidermy* work in her crowded studio laboratory. Emi's unique and signature style blends the strengths of an experimental sculptural hand into the curious world of pop culture art objects & taxidermy. Utilizing only compassionately sourced organic elements with fantastic or surreal sculpted details allows Emi to reach far beyond the limitations of either of her individual mediums and conjure revered creatures, both beautiful and terrifying, that far transcend the usual.
Now recognized internationally in trade, fine art, pop surrealist, and lowbrow art fields - Emi's work continues to evolve while remaining recognizable, and connect while remaining bizarre.
When Emi isn't planted under her desk lamps working, she enjoys spending time with her family, reading, writing, traveling, adventuring, beach combing, and snorkeling.
* All works featuring taxidermy elements are acquired only from ethical sources; meaning no animals are harmed or killed to utilize their parts and rigorous standards of moral and legal conduct are upheld in their collection and use.
